Richmond Council has launched The Library Workspace – a place where homeworkers, freelancers and new businesses can use when they want office space. The scheme is located in the new Library Annexe on Quadrant Road in Richmond. The space costs £100 per month for residents and includes fast wifi, breakout space, free tea and coffee, a bookable meeting room and a kitchen with microwave and fridge.
The idea is to help small local businesses see whether they need office space. Says Richmond Councillor, Pamela Fleming: ‘The borough has lost 29% of its office space through planning law allowing it to be converted to residential without planning permission. I hope this initiative by our libraries will help to keep new entrepreneurs int he borough.’
