Three are three options for displaying the This Week news items.
Please look in the right-hand sidebar.
Top: As it is now. Displays the most text.
Middle: More in style of whole website but only displays first 15 words of text.
Bottom: Within your theme if I just want the really small thumbnail alongside the text it only includes the item heading rather than the whole post.
