A theatrical comedy about identity, the Orange Tree’s production of An Octoroon is the UK premiere of of the OBIE award-winning play by Pulitzer Prize nominee, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Plantation owner, Judge Peyton, is dead and his handsome nephew, George arrives to take over. It’s not long before he falls in love with Zoe, a beautiful octoroon – a person of one-eighth black ancestry – but the devilish M’Closky is keen to scupper his hopes for both the plantation and Zoe.
