Unusual stories from WW1


The National Archives has launched ‘Great Wharton’ – an online resource telling some of the more quirky stories from the Home Front during the First World War. Great Wharton is a fictional town, but tells real life tales that might not have had much significance for the war as a whole, shows another side of life during that period, such as strange ‘egg train’ and the ginger beer strike.
